What’s New For the 2020 Ford Explorer?

The 2020 Ford Explorer has been redesigned from nose to tail with new features and enhanced capabilities. It is also available in the Warminster area with two new trims, the high-performance ST and the highly capable Explorer Hybrid.

Better Performance and Capability

One of the big differences Doylestown shoppers will find between this year’s Ford Explorer and last year’s is the slightly more powerful drivetrain and increased towing capacity. The 2020 Explorer comes standard with a 300-horsepower 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine, which is up 20-horsepower from last year, and the available 365-horsepower V6 engine cranks out 380 pound-feet of torque, up 30 pound-feet from the 2019 version.

Taken together with the available Class III trailer Tow package, each drivetrain of the 2020 Ford Explorer has a towing capacity significantly higher than last year: 5,300 pounds vs. 3,000 pounds for the four-cylinder, and 5,600 pounds vs. 5,000 pounds for last year’s model. The return of rear-wheel-drive also improves off-road capabilities for Warrington drivers.

More Space

The 2020 Ford Explorer is also roomier than the 2019 Explorer. The 2020 Explorer offers 87.8 cubic feet of cargo space, and also has plenty of room for your passengers, too—the most headroom in its class in the first and second row seats.

More Advanced Safety Features

Another major upgrade for the 2020 Explorer that Southampton, PA drivers will love is in the realm of technological safety features, many of which are standard on every trim level. With Ford Co-Pilot360™, your Ford Explorer is safer than ever. Some of these features include:

  • Lane-Keeping System to help you stay in your lane
  • Auto High-Beam Headlamps that can dim and brighten in response to oncoming traffic and changing road and weather conditions
  • Automatic Emergency Braking to alert you to objects or pedestrians in your path and, when necessary, engages the brakes to avoid a collision
  • BLIS® Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, which detects vehicles in your blind spot and approaching traffic while in reverse
